What is the Caldwell Reading Program Like?
This first lesson introduces seven stimuli,
"m", "r", "ail", "an", "ay",
"is", and "the".
The following story about "Ray the Mailman" was written using only these
seven stimuli. After about 20 to 30 minutes of instruction, a beginning reader
can usually read it. Each picture represents a separate page in the story book.
Questions preceded by the letter "I" are instructor questions, contain words the learner has not been taught yet, and
should be read to the learner. Questions preceded by the letter "L" are leaner questions, contain only words the learner has been taught, and should
be read by the learner. Questions preceded by a single asterisk are opinion
questions; there are no incorrect answers for them. Questions preceded by a
double asterisk are interpretation questions.
